Pain and Anxiety in Pets

When dogs experience anxiety they may bark, howl, or cry excessively, act out destructively, and even lose control of their bladder or bowels. Separation anxiety in particular is a common problem for many dogs.

Pain is another serious problem for pets, especially because it’s tougher for them to “tell” you what is wrong. With chronic pain, your pets may even alternate between acting out and suffering in silence.

No pet owner wants that, so how can chronic anxiety and pain be managed in pets?

The ECS

Less than 30 years ago, scientists stumbled upon a unique and hitherto unknown molecular signaling system in the brain, the central nervous system, and throughout the body that is involved in regulating a broad range of biological functions. Scientists called it “the ECS system,” after the plant that led to its detection.

The name suggests that the plant came first, but in fact, this ancient, internal signal system started evolving over 600 million years ago (long before hemp appeared) when the most complex life form was sponges. Compounds and their receptors are present in every animal except insects. Given its long evolutionary history, scientists surmise that the ECS system must serve an important and basic function in animal physiology.

The (ECS) is involved in a variety of physiological processes including appetite, pain-sensation, nausea, mood, memory, and inflammation.

Hemp Compounds

Compounds (like those in hemp) are naturally occurring compounds present in trace amounts in several plants, most notably (though not exclusively) in hemp. Compounds can also be extracted from industrial hemp, a legal agricultural crop.

Canna-Pet® products leverage three decades of targeted research on the ECS system of dogs and cats.

In 2013 Canna-Pet® began educating veterinarians, pet product manufacturers and retailers, distributing the first hemp hemp products for pets and explaining the amazing potential of hemp nutrition for pets.
