Available in a number of shapes, sizes and flavors, Canna-Biscuits™ can be given as a CBD-rich treat to any dog at any time.

Naturally occurring Cannabis sativa L. includes a group of over 60 compounds not found in any other plants, known as phytocannabinoids.

The biological effects of cannabinoid compounds are mediated by their binding to, and further activation of, cannabinoid receptors found in all mammals. CB1 receptors are abundant and widely dispersed throughout the brain, while CB2 receptors are found primarily in the immune system and hematopoietic cells. Mounting evidence suggests that there are novel cannabinoid receptors (non-CB1 and non-CB2) which are expressed in endothelial cells and in the CNS. In 2007, the binding of several cannabinoids to a G protein-coupled receptor in the brain was described.

Medical Benefits of Cannabinoids Non Psychoactive Cannabinoids Phytocannabinoids

Terpenoids make up a large percentage of the essential oil of Cannabis sativa L. To date, more than 120 terpenoids have been identified in the plant, including 58 monoterpenoids, 38 sesquiterpenoids, one diterpenoid, two triterpenoids, and four other terpenoids. The volatile mono- and sesquiterpenoids form the distinct smell of the plant. Aside from their direct therapeutic effects, terpenoids also play a vital role in reducing the psychoactivity of THC and in amplifying the benefits of the non-psychoactive cannabinoids.

Terpenes Therapeutic Phytocannabinoids and Terpenes

There are approximately 23 flavonoids in Cannabis sativa L. Most are also found in the skins of other fruiting plants and are touted for their antioxidant properties. Two prenylated flavonoids are distinct to Cannabis sativa L. - cannflavin A & B.

As phenolic compounds, flavonoids can act as metal chelators and free radical scavengers. Flavonoids are able to modify the activities of many enzyme systems in the human body, and have been shown to alter the function of various cell types in mammalian cell systems. Many of these properties are related to immune functions, cellular transformation, and tumor growth and metastasis.

In addition to their individual therapeutic properties, flavonoids are essential compliments to terpenoids and phytocannabinoids as they can synergistcally amplify therapeutic effects while reducing side effects and inhibiting psychoactivity, when used in the proper ratios.

Cannabis Varieties - Hemp vs "Marijuana"

An analysis of the components of "medical marijuana" or cannabis available at a dispensary today would show a chemical profile which is highly skewed towards the psychoactive THC, and away from other cannabinoids. This is the expected result of thousands of generations of selective breeding, primarily on the basis of increasing THC content.

Cannabinoid profile of dispensary cannabis In comparison, an analysis of modern industrial hemp looks like this:
Cannabinoid profile of industrial hemp Hemp is rich in non-psychoactive phytocannabinoids, terpenoids and flavonoids. In conjunction with the high concentrations of the desirable compounds discussed, it contains extremely low THC concentrations. The combination of these traits is highly desirable in our application.

For these reasons, industrial hemp is the superior cannabis, for our purposes.

Reports of medicinal efficacy of cannabis can be traced back as far as 2700 BC. Ancient Cannabis sativa L., used in China, Rome, Egypt and Persia, would most closely fit the phytocannabinoid profile of modern hemp.

Canna-Pet™ Ingredients

Canna-Pet™ products are infused with cannabinoids from industrial hemp.

Our hemp is not sourced from China, it is legally imported from Europe.

Our capsules are pharmaceutical grade, colored gelatin, using natural FD&C dyes, made in Canada.

All Canna-Pet™ products are 100% cruelty-free. No animals were harmed testing and developing Canna-Pet™.

By carefully eliminating THC and balancing it with the proper terpenoids and flavonoids we ensure there is zero psychoactivity for your pet.

When studied individually, there are documented therapeutic effects with phytocannabinoid administration in amounts as small as 0.01 μm, and routinely in the range of 1.0-3.0 μm.  This would be 0.003-0.9 milligrams.

When we apply ALL of these phytocannabinoids, terpenoids and flavonoids concomitantly (and in the proper ratios) the effects are exponential.

The Canna-Pet™ Golden Ratio

Our golden ratio is our optimized combination of cannabinoids, terpenoids and flavonoids. This involves not only greater amounts of CBD and several terpenoids, but the compounds are present in very carefully controlled ratios to maximize their synergistic properties and the therapeutic benefits of Canna-Pet™. Our golden ratio makes Canna-Pet™ uniquely effective. Data-driven analysis from clinical trials revealed synergistic combinations of active compounds that were incorporated for maximum potency.
Golden Ratio of Cannabinoids
Phytocannabinoid, Terpenoid, and Flavonoid Refinement and Extraction

Unadulterated terpenoids, flavonoids and phytocannabinoids are essential in maximizing the pharmacological benefits of Cannabis sativa L. Nearly every process of extraction destroys many of these fragile and scarce compounds. We preserve naturally occurring terpenoids, and avoid refinement involving excessive heat, alcohol or harsh chemicals will reduce natural phytocannabinoid and flavonoid diversity and quantity.

Canna-Pet™ includes only naturally occurring terpenoids, flavonoids, and phytocannabinoids, in their original form and quantities, with zero chemical alterations resulting from harmful processing.

Product Development

Canna-Pet™ is the culmination of nearly two decades of investigation and experimentation in botany, phytochemistry, biology, pharmacology and medicine, and relies upon: the Cannabis sativa L. strain characteristics and genetics; the ability to refine plant compounds in a non-destructive manner; the endocannabinoid system inherent in mammalian biology; and the manipulation of physiologic and pathophysiologic processes through administration of medicines.

We are constantly working to improve the performance of our product. Now that we serve over 25,000 clients, and have extensive ongoing research and trials with thousands of other pets, our products are improving at a rapid pace.

In 2014 we will be laying the groundwork to integrate IBM's Watson, a cloud-based cognitive computer system. Watson will mine patient records and feedback to optimize administration and to further refine the Canna-Pet™ formulas.
