Cannabinoid Benefits from Industrial Hemp

Industrial Hemp has elevated levels of non-psychoactive cannabinoids – compounds like CBD, CBDV, CBC, CBG, and ß-Caryophyllene (BCP).

Trends in Pharmacological Sciences printed a survey article in 2009, Non-psychotropic plant cannabinoids: new therapeutic opportunities from an ancient herb, by AA Izzo.

That article surveys 76 published scientific reports from 1980-2009 to generate the above chart of pharmacological actions of non-psychotropic cannabinoids.

CBD (Cannabidiol) – anxiolytic, antipsychotic, antiepileptic, neuroprotective, vasorelaxant, antispasmodic, anti-ischemic, antiproliferative, anticancer, antiemetic, antibacterial, antidiabetic, antipsoriatic, intestinal anti-prokinetic, analgesic, bone-stimulant, anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive.

CBDV (Cannabidivarin) – bone-stimulant.

THCA (Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) – antiproliferative.

CBDA (Cannabidiolic acid) – antispasmodic.

CBC (Cannabichromene) – antiproliferative, antimicrobial, bone-stimulant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory.

CBG (Cannabigerol) – bone-stimulant.

THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin) – anorectic, bone-stimulant, antiepileptic.

ß-Caryophyllene was the first “dietary cannabinoid” – that is, widespread in the traditional food system, present in several GRAS plants, and already an FDA-approved food additive.  It is also seen as a powerful, natural anti-inflammatory – as explained by National Geographic Magazine.
